My mother is doing her damnedest to keep me from seriously considering the opportunity I'm interviewing for tomorrow. She can't even remember the name of the goddamned company, but she's positive it's a bad idea ( Read more... )

Good luck with the interview! IMO, taking such a small cut in pay is totally worth it for good health insurance. If you can't go to the doctor and get medicines when you need them for preventative care, you're more likely to end up with big out of pocket medical expenses. Ask your mom if she's like to pay those for you--kidding!

My mother and money don't get along well together, which is why she doesn't typically have much of it around. I'm trying to develop a more reasonable approach to finances, but I do have to admit to having adopted her love of credit and spending money on stuff I don't need. :P

I totally understand the joys of preventative care, especially with high BP. I'm sorry you're having to deal with all of this and I hope the interview goes well.

I think it will, really. A.M. told me last night that he really hopes this works out well, as it would give him the opportunity to explore his own options without needing to worry about health insurance.
