Summary: Twenty mostly true facts about the Yakushi siblings.
1. Rin was twelve and just returned from the mission that had killed Obito when she was introduced to Kabuto, her new brother. Her first reaction was to fake a smile and call him otouto. He was five and still struggling to cope with the loss of his parents but he could sense that she was pretending.
2. She has always been too astute for his liking. Their parents are easy enough to fool but her glances are entirely too knowing. She leaves before he is forced to sacrifice her to maintain his pretence. (He does not feel relief at this.)
3. He is all layers, this brother of hers, a knot that requires careful unravelling. She doesn't think that anyone will manage it.
4. She supports him when he refuses to have the clan markings put on him. He will never know why though.
5. When he fails his first chunin exam at fourteen, she doesn't criticise him.
6. Something changes the day she joins ANBU. They never manage to put words to it but it fractures their relationship for a very long time.
7. He always sees her off when she has to go away on a mission, even the one she will never return from.
8. She is the first person to see his new appearance and makes a point of turning away from him. She is one of the few people he would tolerate this from. (She would have done it anyway.)
9. He gives her the money to buy a house in Wave. (It is not a bribe.)
10. The first time he visits her in Wave, Kakashi is just leaving. He watches them say goodbye and thinks of another farewell long ago.
11. For his sixth birthday, she gives him a model of the human body. (He still has it somewhere.)
12. Their parents do not really understand their bond, merely appreciate its existence.
13. His team are confused at the fact he never mentions her around them when they are only too happy to talk about their younger brothers.
14. Sometimes she looks up and his eyes are dark. It is in these moments that she realises he is not of the Leaf and never will be.
15. He never tells her about his crush on Shizune but she figures it out anyway.
16. She makes no comment on the fact that he still wears glasses despite being in a family of very capable medic-nin.
17. They have never outright lied to each other but shinobi excel at half-truths.
18. He met her teacher once. The man really was larger than life.
19. She thought his teammates would be good for him. (She was right in a way.)
20. Neither of them manage to attend their parents' funeral.
