A/N: Sort of inspired by this picture. Written to celebrate the creation of tesla_hime .
Summary. AU. Orihime meets Neliel and learns a few things about her boyfriend in the process.
"So you're Tesla's girlfriend?"
Orihime blinks. The green-haired woman smiles and takes another sip of tea.
"Yes..."
"I'm Neliel, by the way. Tesla got an urgent call but he'll be back soon."
The explanation relieves her a bit but she's still confused.
"Oh."
"Have a seat. Do you want tea?"
She remembers her manners.
"Yes, please."
Neliel pours a cup for her and places it in front of her.
"Have you been together long?"
"Um, only two months."
"That long? I'm surprised that I haven't seen you before then."
"Ah, Tesla-kun hasn't mentioned you..."
"He didn't? Well, I only got out of hospital recently but still I would have thought that he would. Unless..."
She looks at Orihime more closely.
"He is!"
"I don't understand..."
"You see, Tesla... Well, has he told you about his brother?"
"Nnoitra-san?"
"-san? Hah. Anyway, he was driving a car and there was an accident. They got off lightly. I didn't."
She indicates a long scar running down her nose from her forehead.
"Tesla blamed himself even though the other driver was found guilty."
She shakes herself slightly.
"Enough of that. So what's Tesla like as a boyfriend? Sometimes I wish I was dating him instead of Nnoitra..."
Orihime glances at her, startled. She finds it hard to imagine Neliel with Nnoitra despite how little she knows either of them but perhaps it's like a manga where the heroine ends up with the villain and he changes for her.
She's not sure how to answer the question though. Tesla is so many things to her...
"Tesla-kun is a good person."
"Of course he is."
Neliel smiles reassuringly.
The doorbell rings.
"That'll be Nnoitra. I have to go before he gets impatient. Tesla should be right behind him hopefully."
She turns to go.
"It was nice talking to you, Orihime. Get Tesla to give you my number sometime."
"I will," Orihime promises as she watches her leave.
As predicted, Tesla returns a few minutes later and apologizes for keeping her waiting.
