Happy Monday, everyone! I hope everyone had a good weekend? It's a good day for me, because I finally have my laptop back, yay!! *jumps up and down* I'd just decided that I was going to try and post at least once a week, even if it was only to say "I have nothing to say", because I'm trying really hard this year not to just withdraw and go quiet on ( Read more... )

yay for your laptop being running!
even if you will need a new one
and i am just fascinated about the way you thing your comments over again - i just mostly let them wash over me and try to take away: someone read it and liked it so it paid off doing it
but then i never got a comment telling me i should have handled my story differently - i mean it is your story you are free to to what you want in every way you want too
*hugs*
and sorry for getting angry at your fav book author...

Yeah, I like to read them once when I get the email notification, and then again when I'm replying, just because they (usually) make me smile, so this one gave me thinky thoughts when I reread it. And now I'm wondering if maybe the commenter wasn't as polite as I first thought, because passive aggressive stuff tends to go straight over my head, but who knows?

Yay having a laptop again!!

Lol, I saw your rant on GR and that's such a bummer! That happened to a slightly lesser degree to me I think with one of JLs other books, and it really sucks when an author you like and respect seems to portray a problematic relationship. :(

And yeah, agreed that the commenter is a bit of a dick. *Sigh* they're everywhere.

Hahaha, did you count how many times I used the word 'cuntweasel'? ;D Ugh, I was on her website afterwards too, reading some codas to try and get over my rage, and I came across a coda for this book, AND THE FUCKER'S STILL DOING IT. Yet more "I can't keep doing this, you've got to stop taking risks" from Jack, just because Tim punched some dude who hit him first. I mean??? GOD I have never hated on a fictional character SO HARD. Hate hate hate. UGH.

Yeah, it does suck, because despite the little issues I sometimes have with her books, JL is still one of my very fave m/m authors, and at the moment I'm feeling kind of 'meh'. I'll get over it, though.

Dick commenters are the weirdest thing about fandom to me. Like, why are you wasting your life on this??

What an idiot commenter. Totally agree with you about the decent human beings thing. For goodness sake! Honestly, I'm more upset when Hermione is needlessly bitchy to Draco past the point of reason. In the books, Hermione continues to treat Kreacher with respect even when he's constantly rude to her, so being unable to look past someone's past would be really out of character for her.

Yes! I knew you'd get it! I mean, to be totally fair, Hermione is known for not giving a fuck about people once they've crossed her (Marietta Edgecombe and the 'SNEAK' pimples come to mind), so I could kind of get behind a fic that has her resolutely ignoring Draco, but never to the point where she would actively wish something terrible would happen to him, because that's just not who she is. And the more I think about this comment the more pissed off I get, because in that scene literally all Hermione did was agree with Harry that they couldn't in good conscience leave Draco to the whim of someone who might wish him harm. Like, how is that being a 'fangirl'? How is it 'shockingly unbelievable'?? (Also I'm now getting the feeling that the commenter was being more passive aggressive than polite, which is usually pointless to use on me because I hardly ever pick up on it, lol.)

Ugh, some people are so weird!
