Actually, I really do think it should be a requirement. It's a proven fact that if students stay on campus their freshman year they are more likely to get involved on campus in some way. It is also a proven fact that if students are involved they will make better grades. Good and good!
I can only see positives to living on campus as a freshman because, like you said, you get the chance to meet so many different kinds of people and there are ways to make it fun no matter where you live or if you end up with a bad roommate.
I mean I know there would be circumstances where entering freshmen couldn't live on campus, but I really do believe living on campus your first year is the way to go!
he probably asked you because it's something that is going through faculty and student senate right now. it's kind of a big deal, and LSU has been trying to put it back into effect since Chancellor Emmert.
I think it should be a requirement. It would lower the cost of on-campus housing, because they'd be able to fill capacity. Also, there are the obvious side effects such as meeting new people, getting involved, grades improving, yada yada yada....
But yeah, it will be interesting to see how this story unfolds further...
