Hitler had the SS (secret service - black shirts) It lead to the concentration camps and later the holocaust.
There has to be a better way. I know history does, but should not, repeat itself. Letting a situation run its course is the quickest way to eliminate it. Like an illness, it does kill at times, but interference with so-called cures is a sure basis for adverse reactions in the future. Better to fade away than to continue a lingering, painful, protracted existence. Remember the saying: "This too shall pass". It always does.
Never-the-less, studying other relgions and cultural practices should be madatory subjects from grade 9 on. Just as Lifeskills as in assertiveness,self-esteem, behaviour modification and eliminating useless fear but not caution. Like your two-foot walkway:):)

I understand your point, and in certain situations I agree with you. However, this is not one of them. Subways are being bombed, film makers are being murdered in the street in broad day light, major international symbols of our way of life have been destroyed - we can't afford to wait for this era of hate to pass. We must systematically address both the root cause and the systems of the problem.

Peaceful co-existence and mutual understanding can be achieved IF both parties can reach out and agitators preaching further divide can be arrested or deported for committing hate crimes.

Napoleon, Hitler, Stalin, Robespierre; these gentlemen introduced massive spy networks without discrimination all over their respective territories. They were using spywork to advance their own power and achieve their own ends. And it worked.

I think we can agree that espionage is a very effective tool, unfortunately, when it goes well, you're not going to hear about it.
