Here is the long and storied saga of the past couple of weeks since moving out. Obviously this is the most abridged version I could do since I have never had a conversation with this landlord not exceeding 30mins.

yeah, she is going to have trouble "leaving you on the lease" the worst that can entail is a separation cost that is usually stipulated in the lease document. I would ask Lisa to talk to her and see if she can be placated, but if not...

You may be forced to get gangsta.

I don't really know anything about the legality of the situation, but it seems like it could be a good idea to start taping your conversations with her (speakerphone and my lil hand recorder would work) if you wanted to provide evidence of your verbal agreement (and have proof of her craziness that you could present in a civil case).

I would research more, and then file a lawsuit against her - both James and I both had to do this in college because a lot of rental companies in Austin unfairly withhold deposits. I was able to get by deposit back easily, filing the lawsuit was enough to scare them away.

Of course this is a different situation, but don't be afraid to take legal action if its justified and I dont think you need to get a lawyer
