AHHHHHHHHHHH!

I'm going insane. My period won't end on its own. I have to take freaking birth control to stop it, and that doesn't even work all the time, so this means that I can PMS more than once a month. I'm now bleeding like a stuck pig, and the earliest appointment I can get with a gynecologist is December 28th. This has been going on since August, and it ( Read more... )

There is most definitely something amiss there.
I'm getting on for 54 and still as regular as bloody clockwork... womens' menstruation varies so enormously from one individual to another. If you're losing enough blood each month to be anaemic, this is SERIOUS - you shouldn't be having to wait for three months to be seen! It's not just a little discomfort, it's major blood loss and if it was a wound, you'd be getting immediate emergency attention.

A hysterectomy is drastic, but if you have endometriosis (which is what this could well be), then it's probably the best solution.

Good luck with it... and if you start feeling faint from loss of blood, get to your regular doctor and get help. It's no joke.

I already know I'm anemic from this mess, and I have supplements to take. I've been to my regular doc. The reason I'm giving serious thought to a hysterectomy is that this isn't the first time this has happened. I had the same problem a year or two ago; it eventually stopped, but now it came back. I can't tolerate this sort of crap.

There's no reason you should have to, hon, unless you live in an area where the prevailing religious culture is such that women are regarded primarily as vessels for the next generation - but you know that stuff already. I'm horrified and angered at how much women are supposed to simply put up with in terms of malfunctioning reproductive systems, because 'you might some day want to have BAYBEEEES and that's your prime function so we MUST just leave it all alone and intact'... never mind the pain, misery and fright that you have to go through so regularly!

All I can offer is sympathy and hopes that you will get prompt, effective treatment from the gynae when you eventually get to see him/her.
