So I now have an explanation for why I had limited ability to focus this morning, took a five hour nap, and generally felt like I was moving in slo-mo ( Read more... )

So sorry you are ill AND having to finish your taxes.

By the way, I just now finished 'Comes a Time', and quite enjoyed it. (Read the whole thing again, just to catch myself up.) It's a great series, and your voices throughout are pitch perfect. Thanks so much for sharing it with us!

In the past we've had them done by a preparer, but since my husband is disabled and isn't working, there wasn't any need to do fancy stuff, so I figured I could do it. I've done the federal one now. Only took me three times to get it right. Now I have to do the Kentucky one and that's going to be a pain because I work in Tennessee and they don't have income tax so my company won't take it out of my paycheck. I always forget to pay installments quarterly, and Kentucky won't let me set up automatic payments, so I have to pay a penalty and interest. Fun.

I'm just mildly sick, so mostly I was glad to figure out why I was dragging today. I'm glad to hear that you liked the A Fair Distance series. It was the first long series I ever did and was as much a personal journey for me as it was for Jim and Blair.

Thanks for your comment on a Comes a Time.

Duh? Whyever not?

Good question. I've called the Kentucky Dept of Revenue to ask about it before and they just don't have it set up. Unless you owe back taxes, then they'll set up automatic payments. It's a Catch-22 situation for me, since my company refuses to set it up for just me (Right now I'm the only employee that lives in Kentucky)and Tennessee doesn't have state income tax, they have a higher sales tax instead. Of course, I do most of my shopping in Tennessee so I get to pay higher sales tax and income tax.

If I was better at remembering to mail in the payments four times a year I wouldn't have to pay the interest and late penalty, even though I turn in our tax forms on time. This year, I'm just going to send in all four at the same time and be done with it.

I've either got a virus that's been going around or allergies. I'm leaning toward the virus. The grandbaby's already had it so I'll be watching him for part of the day. Not quite two yet and he's the size of a three year old.

Adios,

Laurie

I'm sorry you're not feeling so good - and taxes too? Bummer!

I hope you feel better quickly and knock those pesky taxes into shape. *hugs*

I'm getting ready to roll up my sleeves and dive back into bureaucratic hell. Just got the state ones to do now.

Still sick, but it's not like when I had the flu this winter. That was rough. I lived in the reclining chair for a week and ran a good fever for four days.

Sometimes a fever concentrates the mind - I hope that was the case for you.

Spouse is self-employed so our taxes get done by the same accountant who does the business accounts. Expensive, but no stress at least. :-)

My fevers only muddle my head. My husband was a self-employed electrician before he became too disabled to work, but when he was working we had a pro do them. It's not that complicated now, so I'm giving it a go. Hopefully I can save some money that way.
