This first post is of my family on my maternal grandmother's side. Nothing to do with previous family stories. I redecorated an album my grandmother had, so I had these pictures for a few months. I used my camera to take pictures of the pictures; 15 of them are under the cut (thumbnails).
This is my great-great-great grandmother Agnes Mills (b1810). It's her one-hundredth birthday, in America. She came from Scotland, and as a young girl she "hid under a bridge while Napolean's troops crossed overhead". I don't know where; a lot of these anecdotes are my grandmother's, and, well, sometimes she makes stuff up, according to how she's feeling that day. So, grain of salt. But still.

This is Agnes' daughter, Teanie, and her husband George.

Check out these happy campers from George's side. Keep in mind that she did have 13 children.

Life is short, people - take time to relax.
One of those 13 kids was the guy with the 'stache. Even his name is groovy: Lionel Sheldon Covey. His wife was Helen Bristol.

Here's Lionel Sheldon again, some decades later, still sporting the moustache. He's holding my grandmother's brother, Keith. George (same George as above) is next to Lionel, and Walter is next to George.

This is my granmother next to her grandmother - I don't think she is her biological grandmother, but a woman her grandfather married after his first wife died.

It's a chicken.
This is Teanie and George on their...52nd anniversary, I think.

These are some pictures of my maternal great grandmother Pearl. I wish I knew more about the pictures; they're some of my favorites.

This is Pearl, Walter (from above), Keith, and my grandmother, Phyllis. The back of the picture said "Happy Easter".

Walter and Pearl were not, unfortunately, very stable or good people. Walter shot himself in the head in his house, while everyone was home. Something about a loss of money or employment. Pearl was a nurse, and she would come home and scare the crap out of my grandmother with her gory and gross stories. Supposedly Pearl thought this would help protect Phyllis from life in general, but I've gathered from family stories that she would do it quite frequently; this is what makes me think perhaps she had another, more selfish reason for telling those stories to a little kid.
My grandmother and her brother Keith.

This is my grandmother as a teenager.

She grew up in Southern California, attended Hollywood High.

I love the glam shot.

More pics soon. My computer is incredibly slow, so this is taking a long time. But I've been wanting to do it for a while. So, more to come.
