Herbert picked up the phone, he glanced at his wife. Faith's intent gaze reflected nerves and hope.
"You, sure about this hon?" he asked her for possibly the thirtieth time in the last two days.
"As sure as I can be about something as big as this, Bert. But it's our last chance, and if we don't do it, we'll regret it, I know it."
He nodded. "Well, we can afford it, and we'll be able to devote all our time and energy into it."
"Do it, Bert. If we talk about it, we'll end up putting it off another day. Just make the call."
"Alright, Faith." He dialed the number he had written on the pad next to the phone. He listened to the reciever as it rang, once, twice.
"Riverblossom Animal Shelter."
"Yes, I want to adopt a cat."
