Notes: I think it'll be pretty obvious what's going on here. Just as a note, I often go back and forth on whether Don and Cassie get married. Oh and I'm 1/3 done!
Cassandra Goth was just about to go into her bedroom and change out of her never-actually-happened wedding dress, when her brother Alexander called her name from behind her.
"Cassie?"
She turned around and smiled at the twelve year old. "Yes, Alex?"
"Where's Don?"
"I don't know, dear. He didn't tell me. He just said that he couldn't go through with it."
"I'll find him, and I'll beat him up!"
The seriousness of his face and tone wrenched her heart. She moved to stand beside him and then kneeling she wrapped her arms around him. "That's very sweet of you, Alex, and I appreciate it, I do. But it's not necessary."
"Yes, it is, he hurt you. He made you cry."
"Yes, he did, but in a way I'm glad, Alex."
He tilted his head and raised a brow.
"Don tried, he tried hard, but he couldn't change the way I was asking him too. In the end he decided that hurting me a little bit right now was a lot better than hurting me a lot a year or two down the road. I'm glad he did that. It would have been a lot easier just to show up and not have Daddy mad at him."
She heard a grunt at the bottom of the stairs and knew that her father had heard.
