Notes: Aristide is the tenth generation. And I need to quit putting these off till the end of the year. :D
Aristide looked up at the old photo that had been hanging in the house for as long as she could remember. Her mother told her it was a portrait of the first three generations of her family that had lived in complete freedom.
Her namesake was there, in the center. Her brother's namesake was sitting right next to her. Her ultimate great-grandparents. Then the brother and sisters of the second generation and their spouses were posed in around them. The third generation sitting or being held while the photographer tried to get the picture before everyone got too antsy.
Aristide liked to look at the picture when she read the story of her ancestors. It made the picture seem more alive. But mostly she loved looking at the picture because they were the reason she here to begin with.
