The E Street Band - they might fuck up once. They might even fuck up twice

I really have to go to bed, on account of the ungodly hour I must get up at in the morning, but OMG, OMG, BRUCE! I think that might have been the most amazing thing I have ever seen. He played for 3 and a half hours! The band are still a really incredible group of musicians, and he still knows how to entertain a crowd. (There was a point, actually ( Read more... )

I've seen a lot of concerts in my day, but there's nothing quite like a Springsteen show. Good luck getting to sleep!

I know, right? I think the only rival is U2 (and I do not care how not cool that is to say!) and even U2 have never played so long, or been so captivating as Bruce was the other night.

I saw him in concert in November, 1984 -- when he was promoting the Born in the USA album -- and yeah, he played for about that long, even then. AWESOME performers, all of them. Fantastic musicians.

I remember he did "Santa Claus is Comin' To Town" as an encore, saying that Christmas was a month or so away yet, but he wouldn't be there then to do it. Clarence Clemens (RIP) was awesome doing his "Ho Ho Ho" in the background.

Ah, now I'm feeling all nostalgic. (Also, that was the first and only overnight-campout-in-line-for-tickets that I did *g* It was fun, bonding with the other people waiting in line, making runs for hot chocolate and coffee and bathroom breaks.)

Alas, I don't have a Springsteen icon, so have an Nsync one :)

I'm so jealous! I mean, they're awesome now, obviously, but I can't imagine what it would've been like 30 years ago when they were at the top of their game. If I had a time machine, I would totally use it for that.

I don't have a Springsteen icon, either. I should fix that.
