Didn't you kind of want a better reason for Pettigrew being so weasely, too? It wasn't like the other Marauders abused him or anything. He was just a disloyal little snitch.
Yes! Exactly!! He just was kind of less popular, even with his own friends, and so in what amounted to a *gigantic* pity party/hissy fit/flounce, he scurried off to old Voldy. Or, at least, that's what it seemed like because we weren't really told much more than that.
