I stink at photo embedding (at least when dealing with lots of photos and LJ), and I only have a few icons myself - most of which you all have seen on my posts. So instead, I'm going to rec two of my favorite icon artists,
purely_distel and
princessbloomy.
purely_distel has moved a bit away from HP of late, but she has awesome icons that span a lot of fandoms including Dr. Who, Merlin, and others. The very first icons I ever used on LJ were from
purely_distel 's icon comm,
creative_cherry . In fact, the one I used for this post was the very first one I ever got. Go there and check it out!! My more recent discovery is
princessbloomy whose comm is
bloomyicons . The shading and effects in
princessbloomy 's icons is superb, and there are lots of fun animated ones there too. And loads of HP-centric ones. Loads.
24. Rant about Steve Kloves something
Sigh. I dunno. I really thought I'd have a lot to talk about when this day of the month finally came, but...eh. I don't like some of the choices he's made, particularly re-assigning Ron's lines to Hermione in certain instances, but I kind of feel that it takes far more than just the screenwriter to actually make the film, and while he may tilt the screenplays in certain ways, the director still chooses the shots and creates the movie from the text...so when something goes in a way that fans don't like, it's just a bigger thing than it being one person's fault, is all I'm sayin'. I also felt that OotP, the one film he didn't write, was actually one of my least favorites in terms of overall story flow. It felt "sliced and diced" to me - specific choices aside, I think Kloves does know how to create a cohesive narrative arc. (Although, as I think on it more, he doesn't always...he never really created any sort of believable relationship between Ginny/Dean in HBP. We didn't see very much of them together, and we didn't actually see their breakup at all, and Hermione *telling* Harry these things about Ginny/Dean's relationship in a way where the audience was just supposed to assume that they were true without question kind of weakened that whole part of the plot, hence Harry's jealousy and eventual re-connection with Ginny felt a bit stilted.). So, yeah...don't hate him, but I don't love him either. Major ambivalence!!
