Okay, so I bombarded you all with music back on Day 7, but this time around I only have one song. It should be no surprise that it's Snow Patrol again...I just got their 2 disc Anthology Up to Now and have been enjoying it for the past couple of weeks. I think that the song "Give Me Strength" really feels like Harry's perspective on his whole friendship with Ron and Hermione throughout their years together (I know it's seven years by the end of canon and the song says ten or more, but other than that it feels spot on). I sort of picture this being his mindset just post-battle in DH. A video of Snow Patrol's lead singer Gary Lightbody performing it live is
HERE, and the album version (same lyrics but slightly easier to hear) is
HERE.
"Give Me Strength" - Snow Patrol
I choked back tears today
because I can't begin to say
how much you've shaped this boy, these last
ten years or more.
My friends we've seen it all,
triumphs to drunken falls
and our bones are broken still,
but our hearts are joined until
time slips its tired hand
into our tired hands
we've years 'til that day
and so much more to say.
You give the strength to me, a strength I never had,
I was a mess you see, I'd lost the plot so bad,
you dragged me up and out, out of the darkest place,
there's not a single doubt when I can see your faces.
My friends we've seen it all,
when it made no sense at all,
you dare to light my path
and found the beauty in the aftermath.
Let me hold you up like you held me up,
it's too long to never say this,
you must know I've always thought,
You give the strength to me, a strength I never had,
I was a mess you see, I'd lost the plot so bad,
you dragged me up and out, out of the darkest place,
there's not a single doubt when I can see your faces.
You give the strength to me, a strength I never had,
I was a mess you see, I'd lost the plot so bad,
you dragged me up and out, out of the darkest place,
there's not a single doubt when I can see your faces.
26. What aspect of the books has been best translated to film?
I'm going to not single out one specific item or moment for this, rather I will simply point to the wonderful costume and prop designs and the full richness of the world that has been brought to life by brilliant scenic design and wonderfully chosen locations. I think that even when acting performances have varied, and screenplays have been choppy, the *world* of HP comes through vibrantly in each and every film.
