New Years Eve Bash at Lavender & Mandy's (Invitation Only)

Dec 29, 2013 19:45

The year was coming to a close but Lavender refused to make any new resolutions. The way she saw it, she had already started over two months ago when she returned to England after six years of traveling for work. Now that she was back she was working to find a balance between the person she had been and the person she had become. She didn't want to ( Read more... )

Fred swaggered into the soirée with two bottles of firewhiskey clasped in his hands. His red flared trousers clashed terrifically with his ginger hair, that he had charmed into a large Afro.

He looked around win a cheeky grin at everyone's normal attire.

"Shit," he crooned, "I thought this was themed?"

The sight of him brought a snort of laughter from the back of her throat, Marlow moving towards him with a bottle of champagne in her hand. She'd long forgotten to use a glass. If anyone noticed, no one said a word and she was grateful for it.

She'd hate to become indignant.

"What'd you think the theme was?" she asked, her brow furrowed. "Fire? Circus? I'm confused-"

He held his arms out wide to display his full outfit. "Yes," he agreed, the cheeky grin never leaving his face. "Everything you just said."

Fred quickly popped open one of his bottles and took a swig from it himself. Cups were totally overrated.

"How's my Marlow doing?" He asked, draping an arm around her shoulders while walking them towards the drinks.

"Sloshed-" she said, casually, as if she was telling him the usual. "It's been a good night-"

She took another sip from the bottle, noticing that they were now walking back toward the drink table. She'd spent a good portion of the night there already, why not some more? It seemed to be a good spot for her.

"Dunno if you heard but I'm single now-" she said, wriggling her eyebrows before the task became too tiring for her. "So- you know, woooo Happy New Year!"

Roger was, essentially, late. Hey, he made it before the new year, which was always a plus in his book. He'd ended up with some ridiculous Quidditch party that had taken entirely too long to beg out of.

But he made it. He was going to grab Lavender to say hello, even if he was a little tipsy at this point already. She looked a little bit busy though, all invested in the rest of the Gryffindors that seemed to be from her year. He settled for doing the next best thing - finding the alcohol and getting involved in that.

The moment Lavender saw Roger come inside she pulled herself away from her conversation. She made her way over to him, only slightly unsteady in her heels, with a big smile on her face.

"Roger! You made it!" she grinned, an empty cup in her hand.

"Of course, I did!" Roger grinned, not even missing a beat. Actually, it was surprising he hadn't made it over here before now. They'd mostly been at his flat, which was honestly at least better than having a roommate around.

"And this is your party, you should never have an empty cup, he told her, sliding it out of her hand and replacing it with another.

"You're the best," she grinned, happily taking the fresh drink. Rum and coke, which was mostly rum - just the way she liked it.

Lavender leaned in and kissed his cheek which, for the level of intoxication, was holding back.

"Tell me about your night. I missed you."

She wouldn't say she was stalking George since she thrust herself into his conversation with Cecilia, but she was definitely on the look out for when he took a moment away from her.

Happily, she did not have to wait too long. Hermione spotted George parting ways, so she followed him down the hall toward the bathrooms. And there she waited until he came out.

Cecilia, he knew, was nothing if not stubbornly resilient - so while he did still feel a bit guilty for having dragged her into what essentially amounted to a lion's den (pun...unintended?), he wasn't so clingy as to not be able to leave her alone for a few minutes to tend to nature's call (much as he would've liked to use the privacy of the space for less orthodox purposes-).

"Oh- Hermione. Hullo again."

"Hello, George."

Hermione was leaning against the wall with her arms folded over her chest, lips pursed. Her natural inquisitive state.

"So, you and Cecilia Jacobs, hm?"

While he had been expected a few questioning glances and less-than-subtle observations being made behind their backs this evening, he hadn't quite planned for a straight-up interrogation courtesy of the one of the few people he'd ever found strangely intimidating.

"Erm- yeah-" was the only replied he could manage on the spot. He reached a hand up to awkwardly scratch at the back of his had. "It sort of just- happened-"

Seamus was late, but not surprisingly nor intentionally. Leaving the shoppe was harder than he'd hoped, as well dressed and some what toasted customers paraded through, making him a lot of money. But he'd hired the help for this very reason- so he could stop being a slave to the job and start enjoying his twenties more.

Dressed in a suit, and carrying several bottles in large shopping bags, Seamus entered Lavenders flat ready to get wild.

Neville, having arrived without a date, was feeling a little out of place at the party full of couples. Plus, he felt like he made a bit of an ass out of himself with Marlow. Hermione made some small talk with him as she ran by now and again, but she was busy trying to keep the party running smoothly.

He was quite relieved to see Seamus walk through the door. He slipped past George Weasley and Cecilia Jacobs, Weird..., and waved.

Seamus let out a quick breath of relief, holding out his hand to shake Neville's. As their hands met, he pulled him into a bear hug, beaming. "Nev! Good to see you mate! How's the plants? Bet they're nice and green under your capable thumb."

Neville's breath caught in his throat- he should have been expecting some kind of mild physical assault on his person- it was Seamus.

He smiled broadly, nodding, "Yes, yes, they're happy." Because plants have emotions.

"How's the shoppe, then? Good, I'd guess by the amount of liquor I got." Which he might have regifted to this very party.
