Closed; Time To Tell The Family

It had been a long day already - well, really, it had been a long week. It just seemed that the list of things to do was getting longer rather than shorter. Packing up her flat had been easy considering that Lavender had never had a chance to unpack in the first place, not really. Finding space in Roger's flat for all of her things had been the ( Read more... )

All things considered, Roger wasn't actually too upset with the way things had gone with the Browns. It could have been worse, at any rate. But they'd all already been family, now that just included paperwork.

The "lecture" from Lavender's father had been nearly hilarious. Roger had tried to take it seriously while he avoided Alex's eyes.

But they'd come through that. This couldn't possibly be worse. At least, as long as Kellie was in a good mood?

"We'll be fine," Roger promised. He squeezed Lavender's hand and leaned down to kiss her forehead. "At least now we're not drawing it out. So that's for the best, right?"

He hoped so, anyway, as he led Lavender the last little bit of the way and didn't bother knocking, just pushed the door open.

Sometimes Kiki wondered about her big brother. Did he really think Lily wouldn't tell her the second they were alone? Still, she waited for him to tell her properly.... and waited.... and waited....and now was the moment (at least she assumed, he could have done something even more mad).

It had been hell not telling the rest of her family, so when Roger walked through the door, she was eager to get things started. Jumping up, Kiki headed for the newlyweds and hugged them in greeting, playing as perky as ever.

"Come on! You can't just tell us to gather for news and then take forever to get here! Share!"

Share before she exploded!

Lavender tried to remind herself that she had fought in a war. She had traveled the world all by herself. There was nothing that could scare her.

Except this.

There was nothing so frightening or nerve wracking as facing The Davies after six years of being way.

As they entered, Lavender gripped Roger's hand harder and it presence calmed her. She was relieved to see Kiki greet them first - at least she was smiling.

"We have to sit down first, Kik-" she laughed, hugging her back. She was older but just the same as she had always been.

"Sitting is probably a good idea," Roger agreed. He hugged his sister, though, and gave her an assessing look. Sure, she was always excited about news, but this seemed a little over the top, even for her.

"Hi, Kels. Mum." Roger grinned, trying not to look nervous.

"Lavender, darling!" Annette came over to hug Lavender. "It's so good to see you well again." She hadn't seen Lavender since St. Mungo's and had been worried ever since, even if both her son and granddaughter assured her Lavender was fine.

Kellie, however, gave Lavender a tight smile and said nothing.
