Closed; House Hunting with Roger

As rocky as the house hunt may have started, their realtor showing them an estate of all things, the whole process was actually a lot of fun. It turned out that Lavender was a little bit more picky than she realized she would be, looking for a very specific type of feel when they walked through the front door, that Yes, we're finally home ( Read more... )

"It's not a manor." Roger grinned as Lavender stepped closer. Catching her hand, he leaned down to drop a kiss on her lips. One of the things he hadn't gotten tired of - felt like he never would - was kissing her hello every time he saw her.

When he pulled back, he turned to look at the house in front of them. It was definitely a far cry from the Davies and Brown houses of their youth, but it felt more realistic. It didn't scream out for them to be something, to meet some ridiculous expectation, that just wasn't them.

Destiny, poor thing, was at least managing not to hate them and get a better grasp on what they were looking for. Roger hadn't thought he had that many preferences until Lavender and he had actually sat down and thought it out. Then they got picky in a hurry.

"It looks promising. I like the landscaping."

Lavender was never going to get used to the way that Roger's face lit up when he looked at her, the grin pulling at his lips that was just for her. It all left her stomach practicing somersaults and her heart fluttering like a teenager.

"And there are actual neighbors on an actual block rather than acres of nothingness," she pointed out, looking from left to right and around at the equally manicured lawns of the other houses. It was almost like their old neighborhood but on steroids and after a major makeover.

"Definitely a step in the right direction-"

"There's one check box down." Roger licked a finger and mocked a check mark in the air. There were some things Roger was more than willing to compromise on, but a neighborhood? That wasn't one of them. Ever since Lavender mentioned it, he'd been hung up on that.

"What do you think the inside is like?" He turned, hand still wrapped in hers to start them toward the house. It was large and impressive, but he could actually see Lily running around on the lawns and various childhood playsets for their new little girl - no matter how much Lavender was convinced they were having a boy - to outgrow at lightening speed.

"Well, if the outside is any indication then it's going to be a complete dump," she scoffed, rolling her eyes playfully as they made their way the driveway, the grass a brilliant shade of green even in the dreary winter.

Lavender could already see herself coming home here every day, hand in hand with both Roger and their son (because of course they were going to be having a boy) after dropping in on daddy's quidditch practice and getting to hang out with the team. It was actually almost too perfect.

"Looks like we'll have enough bedrooms for our own team though, right? That's the dream-"
