Roger felt like they'd been moving things all day. That was probably because that's exactly what they had been doing. They hadn't even been doing most of it by hand. There was no reason he should feel this exhausted
( ... )
Lavender quickly shut the magazine, holding the gossip section with her fingers as she pulled it out of his view. A part of her couldn't actually believe that there was an entire spread in this damn magazine about her and a romance she'd long since forgotten (mostly).
There was a sinking feeling in the pit of her stomach at the sight of those photos, looking up to see Roger's bright and smiling face.
"Well, not actually interesting," she started, that guilty and telling look plastered all over her face. Lavender had never been very good at lying.
His head tilted as he watched her slam the magazine shut. That was an odd response. Had one of his sisters - probably Kirsten since Kellie avoided anything interesting like the plague - done something he shouldn't know about?
It was weird how papers and magazines seemed to think everyone around him was big news based solely on who they knew. That was weirder than photographers following him around when he did the most mundane things sometimes.
"Then why are you saving the page? Who've they decided to ruin? Did Kiki get in over her head with a Muggle footballer or something?"
This particular gossip column had always seemed to follow her group of friends, her graduating class, and the few surrounding them. She always figured it had something to do with Harry, who had been attracting the press since they were young considering his legacy.
But they had never actually called her out on her own. Not even Roger. There might have been Prophet articles but him and his exploits but they weren't the type to take up a spread like this.
Then again, pictures of her had never surfaced before-
And now she was going to have to show him.
"Not quite," she sighed, opening up the magazine again and laying it there in his lap so that he could see for himself.
