FLASHBACK: The Big Break Up

May 03, 2014 17:47

It was finally starting to warm up outside, the winter chill melting away as March rolled in and the temperature began to rise. It was nice to be able to go outside with out her heavy cloak on or scarf. After all, she looked much cuter in just a light cardigan and brighter colors and, considering that she hadn't seen Roger in almost two months now ( Read more... )

Roger had been a bit early. It was hard to say if it was nerves or that he'd managed to pull an entire free Saturday off. It had taken some reworking, his agent getting him booked for this or that on every off day he had.

It was interesting. In the past six or so months, Roger's life had completely changed. There were practices, matches, interviews, and things Roger kept forgetting. Hell, he hadn't been able to make it to Hogsmeade the past couple months.

He sat at a table, tapping his fingers against the gaudy tablecloth. He'd sort of come to hate this place over the years, but there weren't a lot of options, and Roger was pretty sure Flitwick or McGonagall would start a man hunt to look for Lavender if she was somehow out of the village.

But, Merlin, Roger sighed and tugged at the tablecloth. This whole day would be easier if they weren't surrounded by giggling Hogwarts students.

When the door opened, Roger looked up and still couldn't stop himself from smiling when he saw Lavender, heart skipping a beat like it always did.

There was that familiar flutter when she saw Roger, that silly teenage giddiness taking her over and she didn't even try to hide it. When it came to him she was an idiot, lovestruck and head over heels.

Well, she always had been but now she didn't have to pretend that she didn't feel that way anymore.

"Hey stranger. I almost didn't recognize you," she teased, leaning down to press a kiss to his cheek before taking a seat next to him.

"I can tell they're working you hard-"

He definitely was filling out that shirt-

"Hey." Nervous as he was, Roger couldn't help the smile that curved his lips when she kissed him. He pressed a kiss to her cheek once she was seated, hand reaching out to catch hers.

"That's apparently a good thing." It was, but it was changing so many other things in Roger's life.

He met her bright green eyes, struck as always by how beautiful she was, especially when she looked at him with that light in her eyes. "You look amazing, love."

They had been together for nearly two years at this point but there was still a blush that worked its way into her cheeks every time he complimented her, that goofy, toothy smile spreading across her freckled face.

"It is a good thing," she assured him, running her hand down his arm, gently squeezing at his toned bicep.

It was impossible to be this close to him after so many months and not touch him somehow, just wanting to get wrapped up in his arms.

"I wanted to look nice for you-"
