Do you have a tablet? Some of them can be pretty pricey, but then some of them aren't, depending on what you buy. If you buy the right kind, you could also purchase a keyboard that plugs into it. (If/when I go back to school, I'm probably going to do that. It would be light to take to classes, but you wouldn't have to take forever taking notes by individually tapping out each letter.) My dad has a keyboard for his ipad, but I'm sure other tablets are also set up to allow that kind of additional plug-in as well. (Just not a Kindle fire. I already tried. Sad face.)

I hadn't considered a tablet. I'm just worried that if I end up using it for more than notes (papers, assignments, etc if I want to do them out on the go or in bed because the laptop with attached keyboard is going to have to stay on the desk) that the tablet won't be as functional. And I probably won't be able to access things like Blackboard from the tablet as well as from a netbook or going a little bit further and purchasing an ultrabook maybe and then be super poor.
