I spent all morning looking at potential places to live. This is actually something I like doing, I just hate the whole leasing/paying part. XD We looked at 5 different places, most of which had pros and cons.
Place #1: Was a good size, in a nice location, with newer carpet and appliances (something my current place is lacking)! All around, the best place we looked at today.
Place #2: Craaaaaaaaaappy! It was kind of run down, the carpets were gross, the kitchen was tiny with really outdated appliances, the vinyl flooring in it, the dining room and bathrooms was hideous, and the bathrooms were in awful shape.
Place #3: Pretty good size, nice layout, big kitchen and eat-in area.. It also had a backyard (which abuts I-10, so there was definitely traffic noise), one of the bedrooms was pink(!), but it was really small compared to the other two. The master bedroom was huge though!
Place #4: Lovely kitchen with fancy-pants appliances, in good shape for being constructed in the 1960s, good sized bedrooms (well-proportioned), lots of space, huge laundry room, though the bathrooms were small and outdated. Didn't come with any sort of window treatments either, which would be quite an expense. :/
Place #5: Lots of space! Bedrooms were all a pretty good size, had lovely new hardwood (or laminate, I think) flooring downstairs, with a Florida room (which was awfully slanty :/) for added square footage. The kitchen was kind of small and had outdated appliances in it too, and the upstairs balcony seemed reaaaaaaally sketchy (lots of loose boards). This place by far had the most space, but the carpet upstairs wasn't very new, and the ceiling had some water damage in the upstairs hallway, which isn't a good sign (though maybe it came from Ivan back in 2004? I know the roof has since been replaced). All the bathrooms had pocket doors, which I thought was neat XD and one bathroom was a "Jack and Jill" kind (I think that's what it's called) and had two toilets! Craziness!
We still have one more place on our list to check out, but Cinnamon and Austin had to get home so they could go instruct an ecology lab. And there's another place where we have to work out a time to view it with the guy who's renting it because he doesn't live in the immediate area.
In less boring news, I got myself an account over at
Archive of Our Own thanks to an invite from
crossinthenight, so I've put up the 3 fics I've written for Sekaiichi Hatsukoi! You should totally check them out
here! :D
Unrelated, I got an A- on my Western Perspectives test, which is better than I thought I'd do (I was thinking probably a B). Not sure how I did on yesterday's statistics test though. I feel it went better than the first one, but I know I got at least two wrong. ;/
I think perhaps later today I'll make a new manga recommendation/review post which no one will read, as usual. So look forward to that! Now, it's pizza roll time! :D
