18 January 1983 - as Primia Pye (1969 Ravenclaw)
Dacia got her Hogwarts letter. She got her HOGWARTS LETTER. I know it's a bit stupid to have been so nervous about everything, but Paxton is a Squib, it was likely. I just - I haven't been able to stop smiling all day.
We were having breakfast when the owl showed up, Paxton had already left for work at the hospital so we had to call him using that bloody thing and he was - I suppose there aren't words for it. All the things that I thought was someone doing magic, actually was. I kept chalking it up to my imagination, I wanted it to happen, so I was pretending to see it or I'd forgotten that it was magic that I'd done myself. We have to be so careful with the magic that I do, sometimes we have Muggles over. (Unfortunately, but with Paxton's work, it's unavoidable.)
I hugged Dacia tight and told her how proud I was of her. We're just both thrilled. I already told my parents and Merci and Lucas. Dagda was happy for us, she was worried too, we'd had the conversation about what if Dacia wasn't Magical. I know what people say about her, but I like her. I think people just don't like hearing the things that they don't want to hear about themselves.
We still have Augustus and and Jovan to worry about, but tonight both Paxton and I will sleep easier knowing that we haven't had a Squib.
It's just a relief.
Oh and the Magpies finally won, so that's a relief too.
Today is Dacia's 11th birthday. We're celebrating it properly later tonight, as soon as I put this down and put the finishing touches on the cake and Paxton makes it home. She's already asking about getting her Hogwarts supplies though, but that will have to wait.
