So we've got a tick problem. I took one off of me yeasterday (just crawling/not biting) and took on off the dog today (biting). Tick removal sucks, and it's a lot harder to take one off the dog than myself. Off myself, I just crape a rasor blade over my skin and it comes off, no cutting or hurting. I can't do that to the dog. He wiggles too

i'd be worried about scraping it off with a razor; usually ticks embed their mouthparts and/or HEAD into the skin, and if left attached, they can irritate the skin and possibly cause an infection. there are special tick removers that you can buy from the pet store. the most effective method of tick removal is the slow and steady way, unfortunately.
other ticks can carry other diseases, which can be bad for you and your dog.
as for products, i'd recommend either frontline plus or advantix bought from your veterinarian. note: advantix should NOT be used if the dog has any contact w/ cats; it contains permethrin, which is toxic to cats (it's actually found in some of the OTC flea and tick meds... even labeled for cats ( ... )
