For the first time in a long time, I'm willing to overlook the flaws of the episode because I generally enjoyed so much about it.
I love so much that New Directions didn't place at all. I think it's what the show is about - not always having happy endings. About those soul-crushing moments in high school when you think your life is over. I thought that was beyond perfect.
Also, because I'm an emotional person, and because I'm graduating soon, I got teary during "To Sir, With Love" because, well, duh. I also love any time I get to hear any version of Israel Kamakawiwo'ole's "Somewhere Over the Rainbow" because I think it's the most perfect version of that song ever.
Also, at the risk of sounding like Shonda Rhimes, I want to pretend that whenever Puck says "Beth," he's talking to me. I didn't mind the whole adoption thing with Idina and Baby Beth, but I look forward to Quinn/Mom storylines in the future.
Again, I love Emma when she is not in the context of a relationship with Will. Her outrage over the Glee Club was fantastic. I love Jayma Mays.
Sue. Sylvester. Bow down. I loved her acquiescence to the presence of Glee Club in her life. I loved everything about her in this episode. I think that's the way she should be multidimensional, not with a sister in hospice care. But Jane Lynch was marvelous. So, so marvelous. "You cry more than Michael Landon during sweeps week at Little House on the Prairie!" Best. And true. But every line out of her mouth was beyond amazing.
I still say I would watch a show of Sue + Figgins + Will.
Mark Salling is still fantastic too. And I could listen to Naya Rivera sing all the time. I loved the redistribution of solos in "Don't Stop Believin'" as well. I liked the "Bohemian Rhapsody" mixed with Quinn in the hospital - pretty well done.
Good end to the season, I think. Also, with the exception of "Home," I think Brad Falchuk is a better story idea guy than Ryan Murphy. He gets the way things should be.
(Quick complain-y parentheses: Only three teams at Regionals? Really?)
Best show on TV. Stressful to watch, but rewarding in its quality.
"Blow me" was the best possible last line to a show about a crack addict. Season Two has been so much stronger than Season One, although it's all good. Edie Falco's facial expressions are so amazing, I can't really believe it half the time.
O'Hara is, of course, heartbreaking right now. To watch her be the target of Jackie's vitriol in that way was a little hard to watch.
I don't necessarily buy Eddie's quick acceptance of Jackie's ending it, but I feel like that will come back next season - he's not actually going to let her go.
And how cute are Zoey and Lenny? Wonderfully cute.
AND THOR'S TAP-DANCING! I want to know how often he and Jackie do that.
I think I'm going to do a Glee marathon when I get home. I haven't watched some of those episode in a long time, and I haven't rewatched any of S2, except for immediate rewatches for better verbalizing my thoughts...
meryl_edan did a poll in her journal a few days ago - a Mary McDonnell versus Amanda Tapping poll, and Mary clearly won out. It could be because her flist is a lot of Mary girls, so in the interest of science, I wanted to do the poll here, where I feel like it might be more balanced:
Poll AT vs. MM I also think I'm going to do Stargate SG-1 rewatch this summer. Maybe not all of it - but highlights. What are people's favorite episodes of that?
