ANTM thoughts

Okay. So I might be over ANTM. I didn't even really enjoy it this week. I skipped through the judging session because I just didn't care. The Grammy challenge was mildly relevant to being a model, but why the hell were they in teams? And why the hell didn't both team members win, since they really made it into a group effort? It was stupid.

But what was really stupid was the photoshoot and Tyra's hypocrisy. Now, Tyra being hypocritical is nothing new. I'm used to it. However, it usually is spread across episodes, or cycles. Not two minutes. (Again, usually.) So Liz gets praised for finding her inner John Galliano when she had no idea who the man was and Jane (for no apparent reason) gets criticized for not knowing how to embody Marc Jacobs and told that the girl going home is the girl who didn't know who her designer was.

Okay. What. Now, I don't actually mind that Liz got first call-out because someone has to beat Lurch (Ann), and it might as well be Liz. And the Reign of Kayla has begun, so I think we should expect her to do well from here on out. But Tyra said, "The girl going home will probably be a girl who didn't know who the designer was." THAT WAS LIZ. EVERYONE ELSE KNEW WHO THEY WERE SUPPOSED TO BE. (Okay, and I am far from a fashion maven, but even I know who John Galliano is. I don't care that Liz has two jobs and a kid. John Galliano is just one of those names. He's the artistic director for Christian Dior, which is kind of a big deal. Besides, if she has two jobs and a kid, why is she hanging out on ANTM when she's clearly not going to win? Geez Louise).

Anyway, there was all kinds of fuckery at judging. (Also, someone on TWoP used the phrase "haberdashery of asshattery" and that's totally how ANTM can be described.) ALT obviously hates Chris, because Chris' Betsey Johnson photo was so incredibly Betsey Johnson that I almost pooed myself. The photoshoot was a clusterfuck anyway, too. That was such a stupid idea. Models don't have to intimately know the mannerisms of designers. They need to know the sorts of clothes the designer makes and the sorts of models they use in their runway shows. They do not need to know how they pose on the red carpet.

I was just so WTF after I watched the episode that I don't even know. This season is lackluster to me. The only things I am watching for now are 1) Ann's inevitable breakdown, 2) Chelsey probably strangling Ann, or something, and 3) Chris.

Speaking of Chelsey, she's the last one of my picks left. And you know why she's the best? Because she hates Ann like I hate Ann. We are simpatico. She is my new Lexie.
