Because sometimes the internet is horrible, I knew some things going into this movie that I did not want to know. However, that did not ruin the movie-going experience for me. Neither did going to a movie with a relatively new friend, which always makes me nervous, especially when the likelihood of crying during a movie is so high. There were ( Read more... )

Tonks/Lupin is my Harry Potter OTP so I agree with you on the Tonks front. I've been disappointed in how they've played her since she was introduced. Am also v. disappointed that they did not include the Lupin-At-Grimmauld-Place scene where Harry yells at him to GTFO and get back to his wife and kid (unless that happens in the second half of the book) because I thought that was a really important scene. And that Lupin waved her off when she was about to tell Harry she was pregnant, because that's kind of a douche move (unless that was the scriptwriter's way of summarizing the Lupin Leaves Pregnant!Tonks Alone To Go Fight A War Because He's All Woe-Is-Me-The-Werewolf My Son Will Hate Me Either Way subplot ( ... )

I just think everything about Tonks is wrong. Ugh. And yeah, I thought she was about to tell Harry she was preggers, and I do also think that was the scriptwriter's way of summarizing the Lupin!angst. I definitely feel cheated about that scene, because that's an important scene for Harry. I mean, come on ( ... )

I agree with almost everything! Kreacher was badass, but I was disappointed that we didn't get to spend more time at Grimmauld - we didn't get the story of Master Regulus or get to see Kreacher begin to bond with the trio. (We also didn't get the scene with Lupin or Harry finding Lily's letter in Sirius' room, which are the main reasons I'm annoyed with how short their time at Grimmauld was.)

Moody and Snape were so good. I can't wait for the next movie and so much of that is because Alan Rickman is going to kill it ( ... )

Yes! Grimmauld Place - I definitely wanted more time there. I wanted to see Kreacher making stew and a little more of the recon that went into their plan to infiltrate the Ministry. And, of course, the Regulus story. And the Lupin thing - that's definitely the big hole that I was missing that I forgot to write about above.

Alan Rickman should get nominated for an Oscar for Snape. I'm just saying that now, because I know he'll be the best thing about HP7, Part 2, without a doubt.

because it really does feel forced when they do try to fit that exposition in (like with Bill). That is so true. And I guess it's good that someone who's never read the books, like your brother, wasn't confused. I never see HP movies with people who don't know the books, so I've never gotten that perspective.

I think so much of the stuff with the Houses' (now) horcruxes has to do with the SHITE of the sixth film (don't get me started on my hate for that film. THAT ONE should have been made into two parts as well). I think so much of what irks me in this one points back to what was left out in the sixth film. ANYWAY.

Severus. Oh, Severus and oh Alan Rickman. Perfect casting.

I also agree about Tonks (she and Helena are some of the worst casting, as well as Daniel Radcliffe and Emma Watson. Ergh, but I've gotten over that).

I love the balance of comedy and drama, because this book is so damn dark.

That end bit, with the tribute to Dobby (*sniff*) and then Voldemort taking the Elder Wand was beyond perfect. I stood up and applauded like an idiot.

It's not perfect, but I can't complain because the previous six films were sometimes downright awful.

I don't know what it is - maybe because I had no prior knowledge of anything about the sixth movie; I didn't watch previews, I didn't look on message boards or the internet, so I had absolutely zero expectations for it, but the sixth movie is my favorite, despite all the glaring omissions (I mean, I still got irritated as all get out about the stuff we were deprived of). Anyway, yes, there's a lot that was left out of the sixth movie and I don't know how it's going to get put into the seventh, part two. We'll see ( ... )
