Soooo, this happened . . .

I've been looking at petfinder.com pretty much daily since Saki died 4 years ago, to get my siamese fix and see what meezers were out there for adoption. This was the longest stretch I've ever lived without a meezer in my home. I didn't think Moo would be happy with a new addition, being a competitive kitty who did not like competing for ( Read more... )

Loved this tale (tail?). What a beautiful little kitty. You are probably half cat/ half human when it comes to communicating and understanding the breed. I am 3/4 dog and 1/4 human. I can speak dog. I have never had a dog not really like me...I've had a few eye me suspiciously but they almost always come over and we have a long scritch and chat. I can't wait to hear more about your adventures with Purry and Tuxie. Let's face it, you won't be taking her back now that she trusts you.

She's my little aloof elf princess! Thank you! I'm like you with dogs, but with cats. I grew up with them, could share more affection with them than people, and dreamed of being a mama lion as a toddler. I have some mad cat mediation skills, LOL--wish I could market them, but I hate marketing. I seem to be pretty good with hoofed critters too, for some reason. I wouldn't have taken her back because I attach like super glue!

I hear you! I get this a lot. I was at a hotel and a man with his pit bull got on the elevator with me. I started speaking with the dog (I will always remember a dog name, but generally don't even remember what the people even looked like). I put out my hand and we did the sniff test and then she wagged her tail and I scritched her ears as she leaned into my hand. The guy looked at me with his eyes wide, "she never lets anyone do that. She's usually aloof and standoffish".

I speak dog

I speak cat with a bad accent. Shuri, the kitten I got to help Purry adjust is bilingual, as siameses are very socially smart as a breed, and she's a smart one. Since she went seamlessly from a momma cat to a momma human as she grew in proportion she's kept learning. Purry is learning, but she's expressing love to me in cat, which means she comes up behind me and puts claws in my butt and bites my pants legs as she blinks lovingly at me, whereas Shuri knows to keep her claws in and hold with her teeth but not chomp, remembering the first time I asked her to be more gentle and pulled back. Purry did not get good human love growing up, but still has that siamese craving for human attention (they like to be family with the hired help). Purry is very smart and will get it in time--she watches things Shuri and I do together with great concentration and she is learning human little by little, as I continue to learn cat.
