Envy showed up shortly after Lavi arrived, materializing from the shadows of the trees. He wasn't one for flashy entrances. If anything, he preferred to be stealthy. There was a certain satisfaction to sneaking up on your prey and scaring the daylights out of them!

He tiptoed toward the red-haired Exorcist, his face split by a huge grin. Lavi's back was facing him. He'd have a little fun and see if he could sneak up on Lavi and tap him on the shoulder without him noticing. Maybe it would scare him a bit. That would be pretty funny!

"Yo!" Envy said, clapping the Exorcist on the shoulder. "It's Strawberry Time, now pay up!"

Lavi’s reaction to being snuck up on was a pretty typical one and it went something like this except he was able to hold on to the boxes of strawberries on his way down. He was expecting a more straightforward approach from Envy, but apparently his companion had other plans for him.

Once he’d gotten over his shock and managed to climb back up to his feet he spun on his heel so that he could face his stealthy assailant. Unfortunately his hands were too full so he couldn’t reach for his Innocence…but he didn’t need to, it was Envy…thank god.

“Sh…y’ scared the hell outta me! I almost mistook you for an Akuma…heh,” after inhaling and exhaling deeply Lavi held out the strawberries, “yeah…here they are…I didn’t know what you wanted so I got a little of everything for you.”

Peels of laughter rang throughout the small clearing as Envy watched the Exorcist's admittedly overblown reaction to being snuck up on. It wasn't until after the fact that Envy considered the possibility that the box of strawberries might have been tossed to the ground during such a display. Luckily, Lavi had kept a tight hold on them, so no sense in worrying about what could have been ( ... )

Lavi could only laugh, albeit somewhat sheepishly, at being had…being snuck up on like that wasn’t one of his crowning moments considering the fact that he was normally quite alert most of the time. Of course there was a glaring difference between most times and now, he was usually expecting an Akuma or a Noah to attack. Akuma being able to blend in and pass themselves off as human made for an untrustworthy enemy most of the time; it also made trusting others very difficult. Envy was neither an Akuma nor a Noah so he hadn’t been expecting any surprises, but he wouldn’t be so relaxed the next time they decided to meet ( ... )
