hopes and anticipation

I read parts of Obama's The Audacity of Hope before the heavy-duty campaigning began, and one thing I really liked about it is that Obama focused on what's good for the whole country, left and right together. well, it's definitely both. I think the substance is genuine but it's very likely you filter incoming information and end up with a biased opinion. Motivated reasoning plays a big part, like in confirmation bias. Or do I just believe that because I want to? :)

Troy and I were sitting on the couch watching John Stewart and Stephen Colbert's take on the election night and then all of the sudden Mr. Stewart announced that Obama had won, Troy and I cheered and smiled like we just won the lottery. I know there's ads, campaigns, politics, money and speeches, but I do have faith in him. Maybe because history is being made and that in itself is something to cheer about, but through the distorted blue and red posters of his shining face that are plastered throughout Telluride I see that smile and I feel the hope that's beaming through.
