What. The. Fuck.

No, seriously. What. You don't flounce and put the largest community in that entire fandom on a three-week hiatus. And hey, here's a thought: if you find moderating your comm too stressful, how about making the rules less mind-blowingly ridiculous?

Also, where has fandom moved to, is what I'd like to know?

ETA: And since the ( Read more... )

I don't know what's up with mod flounces these days. First ontd_spnparty, then this ...

(If you find out where the fandom's gone, let me know?)

Bringing in a whole new mod team could change the comm from what members had originally signed up for, yet we didn't want to make new mods feel pressured to simply follow our old rules and routines.

Because change is such a bad thing! Everyone would have left!

(Absolutely!)

It was a whole headdesky thing, I can't even. But one thing I'll say for them, at least they left the comments open.

True. At least the members can sort out where to go.

I think most have scarpered off to AO3 or a few of the smaller coms. JohnSherlock, and OurBBCSherlock are ones I know have had a big rise lately.

Honestly, I can't really fathom what they were thinking. If it's that hard to mod, then why don't they don't ask for help? Or, you know, change the rules so it's not so much work for them? I mean, really?

That seems sensible.

I don't believe they see fandom as a give-and-take, more as a ship they're magnanimously steering around the treacherous cliffs of anarchy or some such. Honestly.

...wow. Okay!

There's a fair bit of fic posted to AO3, but I think the answer to your question is simply "Tumblr".

But surely there must still be places on LJ. I know fandom as a whole has embraced tumblr with all their hearts, but not everyone is using it.

Hee! Hi! *hugs* ♥

Um. Seriously? I don't know. Is there still somewhere on LJ for Sherlock? Because Sherlock is one of the really huge Tumblr fandoms - there's people posting art, and fic, and vids, and having discussions and meta and all of that. I don't interact with anyone over there, and I totally miss the LJ form of posting + communicating, but even as an observer there's more Sherlock stuff being posted than I can even begin to keep track of. It's weird; there's definitely networks of a sort, with BNFs as central nodes and people hanging out in their space...?

And, hey, Reddit has a subreddit for Sherlock! Which is very well modded. (Mostly because the only mod who does any damn work at all is doctorskuld. X3)

Huh. But tumblr is so full of spoilers! (hear me whine!)

And, haha, yay awesome people? :D

...the hell? I have dozens of comms on my flist and I cannot remember a single case when a mod would just take a vacation like that. Or, rather, when they do, they always warn people of the hiatus and invite someone to step up and take over temporarily as a mod. Of course if there are no volunteers the hiatus does happen but at least they offer community members an alternative. This post shows that somebody got too used to their crown.

I left the comm a while back thinking they couldn't possibly get any more baffling in their modding choices. I stand corrected.

Heh, seriously? Are we all going over to bbcsherlock now or are they insane, too? THey seem sane-ish.

Yes, but they're just for slash fiction. Fandom is bigger than that.

They are? Huh? Didn't even see that. Which just prooves how well I studied the rules.
