If today's Fuck Yeah, Fandom Flamingo wanted to polarise, they certainly achieved their goal. That's the most passive-aggressive thing I've ever seen there.

ETA: No, really, this bothers me. I spend hours, often days and weeks writing a story. Then, most of the time, I bug poor Kate (or half the internet, if she doesn't have time) to invest her ( Read more... )

That was a very silly thing! You wrote a glorious story and they're upset that you didn't get around to acknowledging their special snowflake comment? WTF??

If it pleases you to answer comments, I'm glad to hear from you. However, if you don't do so, it's not that big a deal. Frankly, I'd be very happy if you never answered comments and saved your writing mojo for producing more fics!

Don't let fools and silly tongue-waggers upset you, dear. They don't deserve the attention.

*sigh* Sorry about that, hon. For me I always feel guilty if I don't leave a comment because after the labour and the birth of the fic... people should at least say that they liked it, right? Or thank the authors. That's the fanfic currency. I used to leave *paragraphs* of feedback back in the old days when I had more time (tiiiiime! sobs, where did you go?)... so I feel extra guilty that I can't do it now. Luckily there's AO3 with the kudos button. :)

And I be thanking LJ cause without it I couldn't read about how difficult the process of writing is (writing is easy, RL is hard etc) And so I *know* that authors aren't obliged to reply to comments at all. It's good enough that the results are shared. More than.

(hope I'm not confusing you, I'm not much coherent nowadays, too many distractions. if only we can live on fandom alone!)

*hugs*

You know, I would give a lot for a "thanks for this comment" button analogous to the kudos button. I have a terrible time answering comments, especially when they're more about feelings/compliments than substance. Like, I can answer a speculation on my motivation while writing or something that was unclear or even a criticism, but give me a "omg I love this story" and I have no fucking idea what to say, especially five times in a row.
