I am a domestic goddess.

I spent the weekend, the first weekend I've actually been home in three weeks, in blessed single domesticity. I ran errands, cleaned my apartment (hello, Mr. Dyson, I've missed you), and baked these beauties:

Palmiers. Also known as elephant ears. I love these things. So delicate and flaky with the crunch of carmelized sugar. They are stupidly easy to make. It's just puff pastry and sugar. Roll out the pastry in sugar, cover with sugar, fold it up like a letter, slice and bake. See? Easy. Unless, you are making your own puff pastry. In which case, I tip my chapeau to you, mon ami. Me? I use the frozen puff pastry the good folks at Pepperidge Farm make. Although, I may try my hand at it over the holidays.

I also made boeuf bourguignon. Are you sensing a trend? It was also delicious. And it was enough for five more meals. I now sit on my sofa full of good food, feeling smug, and ready to face the week.

ramblings, baking
