Notes:
- This is a set up for a storyline based on the episode "Lady's Man"
ADA Connie Rubirosa: *walking down the courthouse stairs. McCoy and Cutter have an Important Ppl Lunch they have to go to, so Connie's thinking about grabbing something from the deli*
ADA Kevin Mulrooney: *Mulrooney is walking up the courthouse stairs, tightening his tie a little, tugging at it in an uncomfortable way*
ADA Connie Rubirosa: *sees him, recognizes him, takes a second to place him since it's been awhile, remembers him as an ADA from Queens when she was new - not a lot other than that, since it has been awhile*.....Mulrooney? Kevin Mulrooney?
ADA Kevin Mulrooney: *shocked that someone knows his name, has recognised him, he turns round to look at her--flattening his palm against his tie, he nods* Yes? *he asked, trying to place her*
ADA Connie Rubirosa: --sorry, I thought I recognized you. *laughs* You probably don't even remember me. I used to work for the Queens DA -- Connie Rubirosa.
ADA Kevin Mulrooney: *blinks, looks at her again and then realisation hits him* Yes. Yes, I do remember you. *pause* You--you're now the EADA's assistant, aren't you?
ADA Connie Rubirosa: *little smile* Yes, I am.
ADA Connie Rubirosa: I transferred to Manhattan about three years ago.
ADA Kevin Mulrooney: *nods, gives her an 'impressed' look* I also heard, you know through the grapevine, that the two of you were tying the knot.
ADA Connie Rubirosa: *her smile grows a bit* We are, in October.
ADA Kevin Mulrooney: Well... Wow. Congratulations.
ADA Connie Rubirosa: Thank you. How are you? I--heard you got out of the DA's office not long after I started...you work for a private practice?
ADA Kevin Mulrooney: No--Uh... my own projects. *slight shrug* I just started back here a couple of months ago.
ADA Connie Rubirosa: *nods* Back in Queens or here in Manhattan?
ADA Kevin Mulrooney: Here in Manhattan. *nods, too* Looking forward to getting some cases.
ADA Connie Rubirosa: *smiles* Don't worry, there are plenty.
ADA Kevin Mulrooney: I'm sure there are.
ADA Connie Rubirosa: Seriously - one of Major Case's ADA's is working on a cross-jurisdiction case that's kept her going back and forth between here and D.C. so all the other departments have been shuffling lately, particularly Homicide. I think Jack wants to send me over to 1PP to take care of some deal-making later this week.
ADA Kevin Mulrooney: Major Case sounds interesting...
ADA Kevin Mulrooney: Well... I can dream, right? *sad laugh*
ADA Connie Rubirosa: *raises a brow* It's--really no different than prosecuting cases at Homicide or Narco. *awkward laugh* More stressful actually, and the detectives are harder to work with.
ADA Kevin Mulrooney: *raises his own brow* How so?
ADA Connie Rubirosa: Major Case cops tend to get more leeway in their...investigative methods. Sometimes they think that means they don't need the DA's office as much as we need them. *smirk* Luckily I have at least a couple friends among them, so that helps when I do have to work with them.
ADA Kevin Mulrooney: *snorts* That's cops for you. *remembers something* I've read about MCS detectives in the Ledger. Is one of these friends an Alexandra Eames by an chance?
ADA Connie Rubirosa: *nods* Yeah, actually. She's a good friend of mine. So is Eddie Green.
ADA Kevin Mulrooney: I know her. Don't know him.
ADA Kevin Mulrooney: *there's an odd expression on his face when he says that he knows her*
ADA Kevin Mulrooney: *like he knooooows her*
ADA Connie Rubirosa: *raises a brow*---from when you were in Queens? i know she worked Queens Vice....years ago...
ADA Kevin Mulrooney: *nods* ...yeah, something like that. We worked a case together... 10 years ago.
ADA Connie Rubirosa: *nods, figures that he found her memorable for whatever reason, doesn't think much of it - people work a case here and there and always remember that person because of the case or whatever other reason, not a big deal*
ADA Kevin Mulrooney: *pauses* How's she doing?
ADA Connie Rubirosa: Pretty well. Her daughter turns a year old next month, her...boyfriend is a cop with IAB...he...has a personality that suits hers very much...
ADA Kevin Mulrooney: *blinks, trying to take all that in* She--she has a daughter? ...wow.
ADA Kevin Mulrooney: *feeling a pang of jealousy in his stomach- she's living the good life, and he's stuck here. But he doesn't show that to Connie*
ADA Connie Rubirosa: *smiles* Yep. Little mini-Eames. Scary thought, but she's really adorable.
ADA Kevin Mulrooney: ...I'll bet. *small smile* This, uh, boyfriend works for IAB?
ADA Connie Rubirosa: *nods* Yeah, he does. *chuckles* Not the most...well-liked position, but someone's gotta do it, I suppose.
ADA Kevin Mulrooney: I suppose so... *nods* She didn't re-marry then?
ADA Connie Rubirosa: No, not-uh, not yet.
ADA Kevin Mulrooney: ...oh. *goes quiet, a thoughtful look on his face and getting lost in his thoughts--thinking of her*
ADA Connie Rubirosa: *small smile* So, uh--are you with--what division are you with now?
ADA Kevin Mulrooney: *pulled out of his thoughts, a look of frustration flickers across his face--not at Connie, but for someone else* Homicide, currently.
ADA Connie Rubirosa: *smiles* I'm sure I'll see you around then. If not for a case -- well, my office isn't too far from Jack's and everyone needs to see Jack now and again for something or other.
ADA Kevin Mulrooney: Ah, right, of course. You're the EADA's assistant... I guess I will see you around. *small smile*
ADA Connie Rubirosa: *smiles back at him* See you later. Take care. *gets ready to go get her lunch*
ADA Kevin Mulrooney: Right. See you later. *checking to see his tie is straight and his jacket fastened before he continues walking up to the courthouse*
ADA Connie Rubirosa: *thinks - well that was interesting, I'll have to mention it to Alex, then gets a call, forgets about it for the moment and goes on with her day*
