Our house got broken into

The most obvious thing missing is my laptop. Still no word on whether my engagement ring or other jewelery is missing. These are the most concerning. The laptop of course has pictures, my journal, and lots of personal information. Turbotax and quicken are on there so they have access to our social and other accounts and know how much I made

I'm sure you know, but you'll need to "renew" the alert on your credit every three months, and I'd do that at least for a year if not longer.

Oh hon, I'm so sorry. Hope nothing other than the laptop is stolen and that they get the person that did this to you!

Oh no. I'm so sorry to hear this :( What a horrible thing to go through. You must feel so violated.

You've gotten good advice. I had my ID stolen about five years ago and I had an alert on my SS# for that reason. I did not know it needed to be renewed though, so I should look into it.
