Well, here's the deal...stupid fucking decision, and I doubt that you'll find much voter support for it at all, anywhere. Get it? Voter support. The reason this was able to happen is because the supreme court is free from that sort of contraint, and only really allowed to base its decisions upon their interpretation the constitution. This works both ways, however. I strongly doubt that municipal authorities are going to have the balls to pull that sort of eminent domain bargaining, because THEY, unlike the judges, have to answer to the public.
This isn't an endorsement of this sort of use of eminent domain, but rather an admission that the constitution doesn't specifically prohibit it (though personally, I believe it does). Since this is such a hot-button issue, I'd look for some sort of bill introduced in Congress to remedy this problem...if not, our legislators are even bigger idiots than I had previously believed them to be.

Actually Braum I'm getting my sight back into my rifle tommorow morning. And for those people who dont think the local gov wont try this they've already started, the day that the decision was announced seven different emminent domain cases were filed under the idea of economic development.
