So, gyoro and I have been privately creating a multi-fandom AU, through roleplays mostly, that we call Dom World. Its a BDSM universe with its own little rules, quirks and foibles. We've withheld in actually writing fic in this world, and mostly its because *I* don't want to accused of copying from xanthe's amazing universe

hmm, this is a complicated one, but the thing is, there are certain fic tropes that are going to seem similar to established verses, whether you want to or not.

To give an example, in spn fandom there's currently this trend to write knotting fic, a lot of which starts of a basic idea that someone came up with I think in the spn kink meme. A lot of people copied that basic idea, but still you rarely see them crediting the original idea. (not like I'd know who to credit anyway, anon meme and all that)

Or if you take slave fic, there's some basic ideas that are going to be there, whether you want to or not.

The only thing I can suggest is that you have to add something to your verse, that Xanthe's BDSM verse does not have. Something that clearly separates your verse from hers. That way no one can accuse you of copying.

I pretty much agree with everything you've said here. There are differences already between our verse, and hers.

She has the whole mystical-ly connection between Dom and sub, whereas ours doesn't, and we have some of the legal issues figured out too, so the worlds have evolved differently.

I thought we had a mystical-ly connection too? Thought we had, if a Dominant is tied to a submissive they can feel what they the sub feels and know when a sub is lying.

... I also don't think xanthe has forced claiming. I think her verse is all about BDSM where it's just a connection. Ours is more biological. A scent. Pheromones. It's like everyday life. Expect for male/female separating society it's Dominant/Submissive.

Well yeah, we do have a connection like that, buts its different than xanthe's.

I think in that sense, our verse is a lot darker. The submissives in our verse are in a more difficult position, and easier to be abused.
