I was talking to Jim earlier about how corrupted and depraved the internet has made me.

If I had been growing up fifteen years ago, or so, I would never have seen the things I've seen, or read the things I've read. Do you think the internet is making my generation, and those younger than me, base and messed up?

I spend most of my inter-o-tube time at b3ta.com...and the result is that I'm now utterly foul mouthed, more filth than ever and much less tolerant of idiots. I'm now a shambles of a human being (and I love it!)

Personally though I believe information is never a bad thing. Not always a nice or comforting thing, but it's better to know things than to have them hidden away from you. More information can only be a good thing in the long run.

The internet also gives us all a medium to express ourselves and the freedom to do so, even if some people use that to make their anuses as gaping as possible and show everyone the pictures. But that's their choice. I think the good given to us by this information and communication system far outweights the negatives.

It's important not to confuse the medium with the content. You wouldn't want to say books are bad because you were offended by Lady Chatterley's Lover.

If anything, previous generations that didn't have such easy access to information were more ignorant (not necessarily a bad thing) and repressed. These things you talk about exist, and we have to face up to them.
