She even found a costume and plans on killing David slowly and painfully if he doesn't appreciate the fact that it's tight, hot and extremely uncomfortable. She considers this, slightly amused. He did ask that she make an attempt on his life. He might like that

David's lying on the couch, playing the PSII. Some things never change. Not much, anyway.

"How was work?"

She puts the bag down on a chair, then shrugs out of her jacket and kicks off her shoes, all the while managing to balance the movies.

"It was fine. Met with a client." She goes over to the couch and dumps the packages on him.

"Happy birthday."

"Oh. You remembered. Thanks."

He doesn't look up from the game. It's an important part.

"No birthday kiss?"
