BACKDATED TO BLACKOUT, MIDDLE OF THE NIGHT acemedium March 7 2011, 18:51:04 UTC
[So at some ridiculous hour of the night, Phoenix might feel a lump on his bed]

[Or more specifically, a lump on his chest. This lump is a bundle of Maya in blankets from her own bed - and while it's on top of the covers while Phoenix is under, she's still leaning against his chest and it maaaaaaay be just a little uncomfortable and possibly freaky]

[She's also not making a sound]

[Phoenix frowns in his sleep, stirring awake at the weight on his chest. He panicked - quietly - terrified that it must be Yaha; in the darkness it was really impossible to tell.

He lay in absolute silence, horrified, waiting for the silence to be broken.

And then so softly:]

N-nightmares?

N-No! [Her voice comes out as a high-pitched squeak, and she tries to even it out]

I-I was just... The lights won't come on, and I... you were making weird noises in your sleep!

[Oh god, he's so relieved you don't even know. Quietly he snakes out a hand, finding her shoulders in the dark.]

I ah... I talk in my sleep.

[Especially when I'm having that dream.]

The power's out. Are you okay, Maya?

March 23rd -> Godot in the hospital acemedium March 26 2011, 04:12:35 UTC
[Early Wednesday morning, Maya is curled up in a hospital chair, covered in Phoenix's jacket. She passed out from exhaustion and hasn't woken up since - but her sleep has now become fitful - she doesn't look to be having a very good dream]

[Phoenix has been out already this morning, vanishing for no more than an hour to fetch a blanket and a take out from the bakery that Maya had told him about. He's still yawning as he comes back - after all he hasn't slept at all, while she's been able to. When he finds her sleeping still, he's quiet, creeping in to drop the bag of croissants on the bedside table, before sneaking over with the blanket.

He just needs his jacket back - after all it was freezing walking around just after sirens in nothing but a white cotton shirt - but he'd slipped on a leather jacket on the way home, and snagged the two pairs of black sunglasses just in case. It was possible that Yaha might come back for Godot, after all, and they had to be ready.

But he stops when he notices her sleeplessness, crouching down beside the chair. Is it a bad dream?]

[Under the jacket, the sleeping position she's in has become pretty uncomfortable - she's curled up tightly against it - the angling almost looks painful]

[Maya shivers in her sleep - the jacket rustles]

[Careful not to wake her, Phoenix slips off his jacket, turning it inside out so that the warm inner layer covers the leather, which has soaked in all the cold morning air while he was outside. This, he gently tries to lodge between her body and the chair to urge her into a more comfortable position.

His voice is soft, too, reassuring.]

There's just too many bad things happening when you're awake to be dreaming about them too, Maya.

[This is Larry with a basketful of sleeping kitten and a worried and somewhat anxious look on his face.

Knock knock.]

[Phoenix lets him in with a wary smile, stepping back to make room for him.]

Hey Larry, it's good to see you.

Hey, Nick. [He holds up the basket first before entering; the orange and white kitten remains asleep.] By the way, this is Geliebte. Also known as Gellie.

[Only then does he step inside.]

She looks just like you, Larry. I think Miles is asleep in the other room, and Edgeworth isn't here yet. Do you want something to drink?

[Well, it's time to bite the bullet (maybe not literally) and face him. The bullet wound on her shoulder's hidden under her uniform. And although her leg is still visibly hurt - wrapped up and she's got a crutch - she's still happier than she's been since getting here]

[Well, aside from being kind of nervous as to how this will go down, since she's been missing the last, what? Two weeks? Three?]

[... Hopefully he won't be too upset with her]

[Phoenix had had the last two and a half weeks from hell. Maya was gone. Gone. After a visit to Godot's he'd found out that she'd been missing for a week, knew that she'd intentionally left, which sort of cut out the whole idea that maybe the Core had sent her home. It had worried him sick.

And when day after day there was no news, and she hadn't shown... There were women out there getting beheaded for heaven's sake. What was he supposed to do? Twiddle his thumbs and pretend everything was alright?

He was terrified, but that didn't stop him hunting. He wouldn't stop until he made sure that she was alive and deliberately avoiding him, rather than that she had...he didn't know. Walked out into the Darkness intentionally to get herself killed.

And he was angry. So angry. Miles Edgeworth is dead angry, except Miles had bothered to leave a note.

He doesn't hear the door opening.]

[This is Phoenix jumping out of his skin, starting and turning around to stare at her. And taking a step forward.]

M-Maya? Maya, is that you? You're not a ghost, are you?
