First fall back in Indiana

Fall has always been my favorite time of year - there's just a certain feeling in the air. I love the changing colors of the trees and the smell of the first fires lighting up on the first chilly nights of fall. It's been 10 years since I lived in Indiana, and it's still as amazing as I remembered.

When I first moved to California, it was a culture shock...not only because of the cost of living, but also because of the weather. It was hard to believe a place could not have "weather" and it felt to me that we had two seasons: wet and dry. Over the course of the past 10 years, I adjusted to California weather and the seasons were more noticeable. They were subtle, but they were there. Now that I'm back in Indiana, I'm really enjoying this first fall back home. I know I'll be eagerly anticipating the first snow as well. There's always something almost magical about the first snow. Everything becomes quiet and soft and you can smell the snow in the air.

It's been 5 whole months since I moved back, and we've settled in pretty nicely. I've adjusted to working from home, and and feel blessed that I have this opportunity. We stayed home for Halloween this year, because we wanted to experience the trick-or-treaters coming to our door. We just didn't have that living in apartments in CA, so it was nice experiencing that for the first time. Even thought we didn't go anywhere, we dressed up anyway because...well, because it's fun!

Anyone who knows me in RL knows how crazy I am about LOTR, elves, fairies and anything fantastical like that. I've always wanted to get a "realistic" costume - maybe in the fashion of Rivendell elves, so I tried my stab at applying elf ears this year. I'm hoping to get a full outfit together over the course of next year and maybe even attend Dragon*Con next August.

Here is a picture of me with my ears!

Hubby dressed as the Scream guy...LOL

Nothing too exciting, but thought I would update since I've been slacking on the updating front!

Cheers!

halloween, fall
