visible... invisible?

Hrm. My Globe Visibility works very well when I'm beside a window in our third-floor digs. Then it uses WCDMA/HSDPA with a speed of 3.8mbps, almost as if I were in an Internet cafe. Only the speed of my laptop limits my Internet browsing. But away from that place... signal becomes GPRS with a speed of 59.4kbps... waaaaaaaaaah. Takes forever to get anywhere.

Problem is, my roomie will soon whack me on the head for usurping her bed when she wants to go to sleep... coz her bed is the only spot in the place where I can pick up a decent 3G signal. Good thing she's there only four days a week.

Also, the spot is good for free public wi-fi, perhaps from  the nearby PUP (Polytechnic University of the Philippines). My laptop gets a good clear signal from the wi-fi but when I try to use it the Globe Visibility kicks in and dials up instead. Grrhgrrh. Anyone know how to configure an ASUS A9RP so I can switch back and forth between free wi-fi and prepaid broadband whenever I want?
