I know this may not help since it's hard to combat feelings with rationalization but I totally gained weight the summer I actually worked out regularly. It's almost definitely muscle mass.
Bear has been doing Crossfit, and on nights he does Crossfit (4x week), eating less because he only wants a protein shake, not a real dinner. His pants are too big. And he hasn't lost a single pound. Muscle mass for sure.
Also. In college the psych & counseling center said I was either bipolar or had ADD. Apparently the test results are similar: they said I had trouble filtering out the unimportant from the important in terms of what was going on around me.
