I just watched The Oxford Murders. I know, I know, way too late.

Oh my, whoaaaa, Elijah!!!

I think I recognized grievous_angel sitting there during the lecture. I know Arabia and Janinelearner were there too but I couldn't spot them. And for some reasons I thought lbilover was there, too. Were you, Ellen? I still remember the HUGE excitement the making of that movie ( Read more... )

It sure was!!!

Btw, I want to challange you with the black/white photos 7 day challange on FB. I won't tag you for real as I'm not sure how you feel about that. And as I'm not sure if you'll see it, I'm letting you know here. You can post here on LJ if you don't want to do it on FB. (but of course it's not a must if you don't want to do it. it's just for fun!) It will come up at some point today (my time zone).

*smooches*

I remember that it was fun to watch the classroom scenes knowing that some LJ folks got to take part in it. I thought Elijah did a wonderful job with the intricate verbal tennis match between Martin and the professor that took up much of the movie. However, I didn't feel that he had any chemistry with either of the two ladies, or maybe it was the way the scenes were played -- like pieces in a chess game being moved around the board to advance the plot. I found the end to be surprising and well done.

John Hurt was really awesome as the Professor, wasn't he? Was it told anywhere in the movie why he helped Beth? She looked a lot like him that I wondered whether she was his daughter.

Could you spot any of the LJers in the movie?

I may have spotted one or two LJ folks at the time I saw the film, but it's been too long for me to remember who!

I was not there, alas, but there was a good turnout of Elijah fans from LJ. Frodosweetstuff was there. That might be who you were thinking of.

Aahhh, FSS, yeah I think you're right.

You/FSS, Arabia/Grievous_angel and Oselle/Baylors - those days I couldn't think of one without thinking of the other ( and apparently now too heh ).

I wonder if they will change the ending of Murder on the Orient Express, so those who have read the book or see previous versions won't know what to expect? I wouldn't think they'd do so, but who knows?

Oh no, I do hope not! ( change the ending, I mean ). That would be awful. The ending is what elevate that particular book ( for me ) from the rest!

There's one character in the upcoming movie that I can't remember from the book - Penelope Cruz's Pilar Estravados. Who was she, I really can't remember. Is she a new character or a minor character from the book? They got a big name to play her so she can't be someone insignificant in the movie.

Am really looking forward to see Michelle Pfeiffer as Mrs Hubbard and Daisy Ridley as Mary. Johnny Depp!

Kenneth Branagh is a wonderful actor I believe but for me, David Suchet is the Poirot so yeah, I'm having some misgivings about seeing someone else as Poirot. We'll see.

I don't remember that character, but it's probably been 40-45 years since I read the book. I should probably re-read it soon!

No longer a fan of Johnny Depp, but otherwise I'm looking forward to the movie!

Johnny Depp can be OTT, yeah, but was quite good in his more "quiet" roles. Don't think Ratchett will be a "quiet" role for him lol. And since Ratchett is evil, you can hate both Rathcett and Depp :DDD
