If the costume seems like too big an investment all at once, you could work on gradually assembling it over several years. And that's a GORGEOUS mask.

What about just wearing all black until you get the costume assembled?

Actually all white would work better, but I have a very clear idea of what I want and I'm not sure if I want to compromise. I think I might take rae_beta's advice and just take my time to make the costume right.
