Not dead yet....

Haven't been on mostly because I got a Facebook account. It sucks up your time like whoa.

I lost my job of 14 years about a month ago. "Excessive unpaid leave."

In real world terms, that's called "it was less than two hours of unpaid leave because a m#$%f#$^ing window blew off the side of my m#$%f#$^ing house, and I felt it was important to get it m#$%f#$^ing fixed rather than leave a m#$%f#$^ing hole in the wall that pets could climb out of and m#$%f#$^ing weirdoes could climb into. Furthermore, the reasons I didn't have enough leave for an entire day were 1) using up all the leave I had on taking my dog to vet for cellulitis in his face, and 2) I was honest about why I was taking the day rather than lying and using sick leave on top of my vacation leave. Pardon the f$#% out of me for caring for my pets and being honest."

On the plus side, I had been struggling to maintain quota (because they kept raising it) for about two years. The next workday after my termination was when the newest quota (higher, naturally) was to come into effect. So I got to skip that headache.

The job itself was the company's quality control department. If we failed at our job and let mistakes through, at the least we lost customers, at the worst we were sued and fined ($28,000US per fining last time it came up in meetings). Dude, you can have it right or you can have it fast. Pick one, you don't get both. And yes, I noticed that every time the quota was raised it was to just above the previous quota's bonus levels. Hmm...coincidence? I think not.

Still looking for work. I've been applying everywhere from fast food to banking. Anything that I remotely could qualify for. I've gotten one interview (I think it went well, we'll see), and one outright rejection. Everything else is just up in the air.

Oh, well. In better news, my Etsy shop is up and made a few sales. I need to make more and clear out the craft room while I'm at it.

I'm going to go drown my sorrows in cheap chocolate now.

chocolate, rant, little mouse crafts, whine, rl
