Babylon 5 love month

My contribution for babylon5_loveUm, so. A little-known fact: all of my iPods are named for Centauri ("all" may be a little misleading, I only have two, a shuffle and an older nano). I've toyed with the idea of making a case for my nano for a while, but never really came up with a design I really liked. Most people have cases to prevent their ipods from ( Read more... )

High five! My mp3 player is named Draal.

That's super pretty! It must have taken a lot of time. It looks fantastic. Is the beading really difficult 'cause it's so small? I'd always imagine me trying to do it and getting the beads all over the place and then them being eaten by my cats (my B5 cats, Marcus and Galen, lol).

Heh, awesome!

Thank you. Sewing the actual case took a while, since I make pretty small stitches, but the actual beading went pretty fast, all things considered. It's a lot like doing regular embroidery, except you don't have to be as precise about where you put your thread, because the beads cover everything up, so I actually find it much easier! Most seed beads have pretty big holes for their size, so you can run the needle through them a bunch. I usually use a washcloth or similar as a work surface, it keeps the beads from rolling all over the place and getting lost in the carpet.

That is really cute. Why do I not name my music players? Buttonholes are hard. That's felt, right? Good job, and very original!

Heh, I tend to name everything I own. Ipods, my laptop, my houseplants... it's bad. But when electronics prompt you for a name, just typing "[name]'s PC" or whatever seems so dull. Yep, the outside is felt, the inside is some shiny white fabric I had leftover from forever ago. Thank you!

Buttonholes are death.

Bonus points for originality of entry. ^^

FWIW I recognized the hairstyle-design-thingy immediately, and was also convinced you did the offset design on purpose! It is pretty nifty. And I think Londo would approve of the purple. :D

Buttonholes are indeed a pain in the tentacles. Easier with a buttonholing attachment on a sewing machine, of course, but if one is going in for hand-sewing that's not precisely an option. It looks great to me, anyway!

omg new comment! Thank you, I'm glad it looks at least somewhat intentional!

I've actually never done a buttonhole on a sewing machine. I don't think the machines at school even had the attachment, though I could be wrong. Most of us never sewed anything more complicated than a bag with a zipper.
