New article out today, from Comicbook.com. Seems that viewers of early screenings of CACW are raving about the film, praising the continuity from the The Winter Soldier til now,  Spidey's intro, the fast pace action etc. But, then the article goes on to say that the third act of the movie is like an "emotional horror movie".  WTF???!!! As much as ( Read more... )

Okay... can I ask you about Civil War because I'm still a bit at a loss here. I watched the first Captain America movie and thought it was pretty terrible. I was bored out of my mind after the 1/3 already. That's why I haven't watched the second movie yet although everybody and their cousin assured me that it was a much better movie than the first one. So I think I will give it another chance ( ... )

First of all, let me start off by saying that I'm not a comics fan. So, I can't help you at all there, sadly. My exposure to these characters has been by way of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, which is vastly different from the comic verses. One example is Steve Rogers and Bucky Barnes didn't grow up together, only meeting when Steve enters the army. Bucky was a child, actually, following Steve around during WWII. If the MCU did that, the Stucky fandom would not exist at all. LOL

Also, you might want to watch the Iron Man films(if you haven't already) first then the Avengers, then Winter Soldier. If you are a Captain America fan, instead of just liking the Avengers as a group, you might want to give Cap 1 a rewatch. But, Winter Soldier kinda recaps everything so it's not necessary. I would definitely recommend Winter Soldier, as it is definitely the most well written and performed of all of the Marvel films. :)

On more thing. I can tell you that a lot of the characters in the Civil War comics aren't in MCU now. One reason is that Fox/Sony own them, even though they are Marvel's in the comics. The X-Men, Fantastic Four, and Deadpool characters are all separate entities than Avengers/Winter Soldier/Thor.

But....that may change by the Infinity War films, set after Civil War. Supposedly, there will be 60+ characters in those. So, I expect some deals to be made in the next couple of years.

Thanks for the detailed answer! It makes at least some of the storytelling a bit clearer. And I guess I will rewatch the Iron Man movies again because I watched them but have probably forgotten the important parts...
